The NEW Kitchen

We have been done with the kitchen remodel for some time now.  We still have a few little things to finish, like painting, but we were burnt out from the remodel that we took some time off to gain our sanity back.  This weekend we will finish the painting and not long after that we will finish the trim and crown molding.

You want pictures?  Okay.  Well here is the "before" picture again just to remind you.
This was taken from the living room facing the kitchen.
Here is the "after" picture.
We remodeled EVERYTHING.  We went all the way down to the sub-floor and rebuilt everything back up.  If you look real carefully you can see that the blue carpet isn't in our house anymore!  I was glad when we ripped that out of the house.  It's not until you rip out a carpet that you truly understand how unsanitary it really is.  You NEVER get all the dirt up.  Our previous owners had a dog that made messes in the house.  You could see every stain.
This is the carpet we pulled out of the hallway.  Gross.
Funny thing about the previous owners (and the ones before them), When they carpeted the house they didn't bother to remove the linoleum which made it a pain for us to remove and set us back a few days.  In the kitchen we had to remove THREE layers of linoleum.  And, in between each layer I found more surprises...
Yep.  Gross.  In between each layer.  This is why our house smelled so musty all the time.  As gross as it is we are glad it's a thing of the past.  Welcome to our *NEW* house!
I can't believe we made it to this point.  There are so many things that we still are in awe about.  We love our backsplash and are always commenting on how much we love it.  Our flooring and the island are the biggest changes and we love how open our house is now.
